Summertime and the living is easy..........

Hope everone is having a great Summer so far.... been busy with house stuff but a couple weeks back I tried out the new smoker that I broke down and finally bought. A couple years ago Mary and I went to Texas to vist her brother Tim, who took us out for some of the best smoked beef brisket I have ever had and I swore someday.......

Nothing fancy just a cheap dome shaped charcoal smoker I picked up. I used some montreal steak seasoning on the brisket to season it and Hickory wood to smoke it and 5 or 6 hours later...

Awesome piece of beef and I cant wait to do it again...Oh and if my eyes look a little red its from all that smoke :) honest!

Have a great summer and I'll try and find something more interesting to post soon!

Do I know you?

OK... felt the need to do a little rant here....about a month ago I received an email via my Comic art fans gallery from someone who said they admired my collection and was wondering if I would help him out with getting art at shows? So I was then curious and went to check out their gallery only to find none........so I did not respond to the e-mail.
Fast forward to today an artist whose art I admire and blog I peruse from time to time has in his twitter posts via his blog that at a show recently a guy bought some art from him and he gave him a good deal as the buyer promised they were for him and not eBay. You can guess what comes next.....they are on eBay. Leading the artist to say now at shows his art prices are firm.
Some may say well the guy bought them and he can do whatever he likes. While this is true he stood there and bold faced lied to get a better deal and effectively ruined other fans chances of getting a better deal or possibly some young fan who maybe a few dollars short. Its one thing if you pay the artists his or her asking price, but to assure them its going home with you and can they give you a better deal? In the future I hope this artist may still consider cutting a fan a break but if he does I hope he insists on personalizing it. You see them hesitate a little too long and that will tell you all you need to know.
So getting back to the first part of this post, its a warning to other art collectors. Make sure you know who your getting sketches for at shows because while the person who sent me that email from out of the blue may indeed be a fan looking for some help getting a piece of art from a favorite artist, they also could be someone looking to make a quick buck and doesn't care if the artist sees it on eBay, leaving them with only your face as the lunkhead who bought it and flipped it....have fun trying to get another piece of art from them and hope they don't tell their artist friends.
Hey don't get me wrong you buy a piece of art and shouldn't have to die with it, but the artist shouldn't see it on eBay a week or two after they sold it to you either.

Len Wein loses house, art in fire

I got this info via Comics Buyers Guide and wish the Weins the best:

Len Wein loses house, art in fire
According to early reports from Harlan Ellison, a fire April 6 at the home of comics writer Len Wein and his wife, Christine Valada, has destroyed at least half the house, along with the original art for the cover of Giant-Size X-Men #1 and the original pages from Incredible Hulk #181, the first appearance of Wolverine. The couple's dog was also killed in the fire.

You tube stuff

Here's some random (but cool) stuff I saw on youtube!

Spike Jonze takes on "Where the Wild Things Are" should at the very least be visually interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NOkQ4dYVaM&feature=channel

Sam Rami returns to his Horror roots and a great title for a Drive in feature "Drag Me to Hell"

Total spoof here, How about a 80's era Saturday morning cartoon of the Watchmen?
